SUMMARY:Rydal Hills and History Tour
DESCRIPTION:Rydal Hills and History Tour\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout\n\n\n\nJoin us as we discover the secrets and history of the Rydal area on a low level\, dog friendly tour exploring the area with a knowledgeable guide. \n\n\n\nGet to know the history of Rydals many quarries\, find waterfalls only seen by those who wander and explore ancient trees as we revel in birdsong throughout. \n\n\n\nThis walk is suitable for all levels of fitness\, and can be tweaked to the level of the group\, adding more steps or shortening areas. But will always provide a high level of knowledge and incredible scenery throughout. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike Stats\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type: Low Level \n\n\n\nDistance: 3-4 miles \n\n\n\nDifficulty: 1/5 – General level of fitness required \n\n\n\nDuration: Approximately 3 hours including breaks \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere to Meet\n\n\n\nWe will be meeting at the White moss car park – Ambleside car park at 09:30am\, aiming to commence the walk at 10:00am. \n\n\n\nIt is important to note that mobile phone signal can be very limited in the Lake District national park with the other challenge of some roads not actually being listed on Google Maps. \n\n\n\nFor this reason\, we would recommend saving “Cumbria” as a offline map to your mobile device\, allowing turn by turn navigation even with no mobile internet. If you are unsure how to do this\, please read our blog post here. \n\n\n\nWe also recommend downloading the what3words app to your mobile phone. This allows navigation to unlisted roads/places using simply a three word phrase. \n\n\n\nwhat3words phrase: ///debater.mainly.surprises \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCheck out our full calendar\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have a wide selection of different walks and hikes running throughout the whole season. Click the below link to view our full calendar of guided walks we currently have planned. \n\n\n\n\nView All Guided Walks\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFaqs\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease take some time to read our FAQs. If the question you need answering is not listed\, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us for more information. \n\n\n\n\n\nCan I bring my dog? \nWell trained dogs are allowed on our low level walks only. \n\n\n\n\nWhat is your refund/cancellation policy? \nOur full refund and cancellation policy can be found here. \n\n\n\n\nIs there a minimum age limit? \nOn our scramble and advanced hikes the minimum age is 16 accompanied by an adult. For our low-level walks all ages are welcome with under 16s being accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\n\nWhat kit do I need ? \nA full required kit list can be found below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKit List\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMake sure you have all items with you before attending one of our guided walks. These will be checked before starting and entry refused in some cases. \n\n\n\n\n\nWaterproof Jacket & Trousers \nEven if it is forecast blue skies all day the Lake District is known for its rapidly changing weather conditions. Attendees should be prepared for these sudden weather changes bringing appropriate waterproof jackets and over trousers. \n\n\n\n\nWarm clothing \nWhen it comes to hiking\, layering is key to staying comfortable and safe on the trail. The layering system is a way to dress in layers that can be added or removed as the temperature and activity level change. It allows you to adapt to the changing conditions and stay comfortable throughout your hike. For a full breakdown\, take a look at our blog post here. \n\n\n\n\nHiking boots/Trail Shoes \nHiking boots or trail shoes are essential\, strictly no wellies. \n\n\n\n\nRucksack \nWe recommend a minimum of 20L rucksack will be needed to carry all items necessary for one of our guided walks. \n\n\n\n\nWater \nFor our medium hikes and scrambles we would recommend carrying a minimum of 1L of water. On the Low Level walks 500ml should suffice. \n\n\n\n\nHead torch \nThis is a critical piece of equipment even for walks that will be starting during daylight hours. \n\n\n\n\nPacked Lunch \nFood for half way break\, giving some much needed energy for the descent.

SUMMARY:Introduction To Navigation - Langdale Pikes
DESCRIPTION:Introduction To Navigation – Langdale Pikes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout\n\n\n\nOur Introduction to Navigation is an essential building block to equip anyone for outdoor adventures. A day of good visibility might persuade others to tackle a mountain walk without a map and compass\, maybe follow the crowd. But what happens when the mountain is quiet\, the clouds roll in and visibility is lost? A massive percentage of the UK mountain rescue call outs could have been prevented if route knowledge and navigation skills had been applied.  \n\n\n\nWe’re offering an introduction to navigation\, aimed at people with little or no navigation experience who want to kick start their journey to becoming independent in the mountains. The day will consist of: \n\n\n\n\nLearning how to take bearings on a compass\n\n\n\nRoute planning using only a map\n\n\n\nMap orientation\n\n\n\nReading the lay of the land\n\n\n\nTips\, tricks and experience to keep you safe\n\n\n\n\nAll while completing fun challenges as you navigate through the stunning hills of the Langdale Pikes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike Stats\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type: Low Level \n\n\n\nDistance: 3-4 miles \n\n\n\nDifficulty: 1/5 – General level of fitness required \n\n\n\nDuration: Approximately 6 hours including lunch and breaks \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere to Meet\n\n\n\nWe will be meeting at the National Trust – Sticklebarn and The Langdales car park at 08:30am\, aiming to commence the walk at 09:00am.
\n\n\n\nwhat3words phrase: ///screening.sound.craft \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCheck out our full calendar\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have a wide selection of different walks and hikes running throughout the whole season. DESCRIPTION:Helvellyn via Striding & Swirral Edge Guided Walk\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout\n\n\n\nOur Helvellyn via Striding & Swirral Edge guided walk is a spectacular and challenging scramble up the third highest peak in England. \n\n\n\nStarting from the village of Glenridding\, the walk takes us up steeply towards the Red Tarn\, a beautiful lake surrounded by the rugged mountain peaks. The path winds its way up the side of Striding Edge\, a narrow ridge that traverses the mountain. This is a thrilling and exposed hike that rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding fells. \n\n\n\nOnce at the summit of Helvellyn\, it enjoys outstanding views across the whole of the Lake District before a challenging descent takes you along Swirral Edge\, a ridge that runs along the northern side of the mountain. \n\n\n\nSummiting Helvellyn is a memorable and challenging walk\, in one of the most stunning areas of the UK\, this really is a must-do for any outdoor enthusiast. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike Stats\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type: Scramble \n\n\n\nDistance: 8 miles \n\n\n\nDifficulty: 4/5 – Good level of fitness required\, head for heights and some previous scrambling experience \n\n\n\nDuration: Approximately 4 hours including lunch and breaks \n\n\n\nPeaks: Helvellyn \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere to Meet\n\n\n\nWe will be meeting at the National Trust – Glenridding car park at 08:30am\, aiming to commence the walk at 09:00am.
\n\n\n\nwhat3words phrase: ///richest.resettle.crumble \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCheck out our full calendar\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe have a wide selection of different walks and hikes running throughout the whole season.

DESCRIPTION:Old Man of Coniston Five\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout\n\n\n\nThe Old Man of Coniston\, is an iconic 803-metre peak that towers above the surrounding landscape. The summit route is a moderate climb\, with a few rocky sections\, but the views at the top of Coniston Water and the surrounding fells are worth the effort. \n\n\n\nFirst ascending Dow Crag\, which from certain angles resembles a pair of cupped hands\, we then continue on to the famous Old Man of Coniston Peak. \n\n\n\nWe then continue to Swirl How via Brim Fell\, where you will find a variety of stunning lakeside views\, rocky crags and heather-clad slopes. From Swirl How\, you’ll make your way to Wetherlam\, the final peak on the Coniston Five. \n\n\n\nThe Coniston Fells offer a fantastic experience for any walker\, with its diverse range of terrain and absolutely stunning views. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike Stats\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type: Medium Hike \n\n\n\nDistance: 10 miles \n\n\n\nDifficulty: 3/5 – Good level of fitness required \n\n\n\nDuration: Approximately 6 hours including lunch and breaks \n\n\n\nPeaks: The Old Man of Coniston\, Brim Fell\, Swirl How\, Wetherlam\, Dow Crag \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere to Meet\n\n\n\nWe will be meeting at the Walna Scar car park at 08:00am\, aiming to commence the walk at 08:30am.
