The most iconic and exhilarating route up Helvellyn, the ascent via Striding Edge and Swirral Edge promises an adventure like no other.
Starting from Glenridding, this route commands attention with its dramatic ridges and breathtaking views.

What is the Easiest Walking Route Up Helvellyn?
Among the options available, tackling Helvellyn from Thirlmere presents the most straightforward route for hikers seeking an easier ascent. This path offers a gradual incline through picturesque woodlands and moorlands, followed by a very steep but technically less challenging assent. This provides a more manageable hike when compared to the exposed ridges of Striding Edge. While it still requires a good level of fitness, the Helvellyn ascent from Thirlmere offers a gentler introduction to the mountain, making it an excellent choice for those less experienced or looking for a more relaxed outdoor walk.
What is the Best Route Up Helvellyn?
We may be a little bit bias….but we consider the route via Striding Edge and Swirral Edge to be the ultimate way to conquer Helvellyn.
