Helvellyn Guided Walk Faqs

Some of our most asked Helvellyn questions. If the question you need answering is not listed, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us for more information.

How long does it take to go up and down Helvellyn?

It takes about 6 hours to go up and down Helvellyn on The Stridding & Swirral Edge route.

This is including lunch and some breaks on our Helvellyn Guided Walk.

Is helvellyn ok for dogs?

We would not recommend taking dogs on the Stridding & Swirral Edge route. This is incase they pull on the lead causing you to lose footing, with some of the drops being very severe. The easier Thirlmere route would be better suited if you are taking your four legged friend.

Is Helvellyn a Wainwright?

Is Helvellyn a difficult walk?

In comparison to other popular hikes in the Lake District, Helvellyn is considered a difficult hike.

Factors such as steepness, ridge lines , and exposure to the elements all contribute to its challenging nature.

However, with our experianced mountain leaders, anyone with a good level of fitness find it to be a rewarding and exhilarating experience.

Helvellyn where to park?

The Glenridding Car Park which is ran by the Lake District National Park is the best place to park. Directions to get there can be found here
